CONTEXT
RoadMat not only manages the materials database where a lot of information on existing pavement materials can be found (browse the RoadMat database), it also directly works on Research & Development (R&D) projects on road materials. An example of recent R&D activity of RoadMat is described in this short note, with several studies on the reinforcement of pavements using geogrids made in collaboration with partner Afitexinov, a French producer. Geogrids and other reinforcement geosynthetics have been successfully used for 30 years to limit reflective cracking in maintenance operations. Still, the way they can be specified remains unclear. Geosynthetics producers and pavement engineers have thus difficulties to identify the right product for their projects. So, one of the first RoadMat publications on this topic was to review the current situation regarding using and specifying these products [1]. It also gave examples of jobsites making use of these products.
